I'm a native of Florence, SD, and have one brother and three sisters. I graduated from Northern State University and taught for several years before I went to St. Paul Seminary. After ordination, I served at St. Mary Parish and Roncalli High School in Aberdeen for 3 years before I went to graduate school to study Canon Law at the University of Ottawa. Upon returning, I was pastor at Huntimer for 6 years while also serving as Chancellor of the Diocese for Bishop Dudley. I served at St. George Parish in Hartford for 7 years and also as Chaplain at O'Gorman High School for 4 years. I then returned to St. Mary Parish and Roncalli High School in Aberdeen for 9 years, and then moved to St. Mary Parish in Dell Rapids, where I served for 6 years. After that, I directed the work of the Diocesan Marriage Tribual and was pastor at St. Dominic Parish in Canton. I've been a member of the Tribunal Staff for 30 years and have served as Judicial Vicar for 13 years. I will continue to oversee the work of the Tribunal for the foreseeable future.
Deacon Denny assists with many programs at our parish, particularly serving meals at The Banquet, and our parish Welcoming Committee. Deacon Denny also assists Fr. Tschakert with marriage preparation, leading Bible studies and other adult education groups, and visiting our homebound and hospitalized parishioners.
Jennifer oversees the preparation of our liturgies; directs the Children's Choir, The Messengers ( jr. high/high school ensemble), and Adult Choir; works with cantors; helps engaged couples plan their wedding liturgies; registers new parishioners; and trains, coordinates and schedules our liturgical volunteers.
God has consistently called me into ministry as a young professional, starting with O'Gorman High School in 2010. After meeting my wife in 2016, we were led to Chicago for two years where I served the Catholic Community of Northbrook as their Director of Faith Formation. It is a joy to be back in SD serving the people of St. Katharine Drexel Parish. My wife, son and daughter, and I consider it a privilege to be a part of the parish family. It is our deep hope to add to the warmth and life that Jesus has already built up here.
My family and I are charter members of St. Katharine Drexel Parish. My husband, David, and I have 4 children: Beth is married and attending grad school at SDSU; Bekah is attending the College of St. Mary in Omaha; Caleb is in 10th grade at O'GHS and Anna is in 8th grade at O'GJH. We enjoy going to our kids' sports activities and spending time as a family. I came to my position as Administrative Assistant with over 21 years of retail management experience. I coordinate our Parish Food and Diaper Pantry, our St. Vincent de Paul home visitors, and enjoy meeting and greeting all who visit our Parish Office.
I have been a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish since 2008 and enjoy my work as Director of Finance at our parish. My husband, Ben, and I have 3 daughters: Gracious, Mercy and Divine. I am a graduate of the University of Sioux Falls with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, and of Southeast Technical Institute with an Associate's Degree in Accounting. I have also been a proud member of the SD Air National Guard since 1997. It's exciting to be working for St. Katharine Drexel Parish and with all of our members as we continue our journey in faith together. Please don't hesitate to contact me at any time with questions about your parish support.
I am originally from Baton Rouge, LA, and have lived in Connecticut and then Maryland where I met my wife, Rochelle, in 1989. In 1991, we were married at St. Lawrence Parish in Milbank, SD where Rochelle is from. We started our family while living in MD and decided to move back to SD in 1997. Bailey, our son, was born in 1996 and Madeleine, our daughter was born in 1997. Both kids grew up attending St. Michael School, O’Gorman Junior High and graduating from O’Gorman High School. Bailey attended St. John Vianney Seminary in St. Paul for two years, eventually graduating in 2019 with a Bachelor Degree in Catholic Studies. He is now a FOCUS Missionary and will be located on the University of Memphis campus in Memphis, TN for the next two years. Madeleine is in her senior year as a Nursing Major at the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. Rochelle and I enjoy being involved in volunteer opportunities both inside and outside the parish as Adult Choir members, Sacristans, Eucharistic Ministers, and youth leaders. We felt it important to be involved in the formation of the youth, to include our kids and the friends they hung out with. We truly believe God is working miracles in the youth of our parish. It is a pleasure to be asked to step up and continue the faith formation process of our jr. high and high school students through programs like Sunday Night Youth Group, lock-ins, community service, mission trips, and Steubenville Youth Conferences. All are welcome, especially parents who want to share their faith journey and help pave to way to making more saints in our faith community. Kudos and appreciation to our adult volunteers. I couldn’t do it without you.
I grew up in and graduated from high school in Huron, then attended Northern State University where I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. I later returned to NSU and earned my Masters Degree in Education and Learning.
For the past 12 years, I have been active in the classroom environment. I taught 5th grade at Lincoln Elementary in Aberdeen for seven years. I also coached high school volleyball for Aberdeen Central HS during this time. After moving to Sioux Falls in 2010, I joined SFCS, teaching 6th grade at Christ the King School for two years and at St. Michael School for three years. My husband, Wade, is the principal at O'Gorman Junior High School. We have three children: Spencer, Tanner, and Brynnley.
I look forward to working with all of the students and families of St. Katharine Drexel School. The cooperative efforts between home and school truly assure opportunities for success.
